We have already spoken about how my cats think peeing everywhere is a good resolution to the issue of me bringing a new cat in the house.  But all the people with advice on the matter agree that I need to take my cat to the vet to make sure there is not bacteria or infection in the feline.  So I take my cat to the vet.

The vet tells me that everything seems fine on the surface, and that it reality the new boy cat is throwing off the social order (!?) of the cats, and they are peeing on my counter top in protest.  "But we need a urine sample to be sure".  It was 3:30 on a Friday, and we doubted kitty would pee before close, so rather than leave her overnight for a fee, I opted to bring her back Monday morning.  I spent part of my weekend scrubbing down cat litter boxes, giving up and buying new litter boxes, and generally making the litter box a nice "atmosphere" for my cat to want to urinate into.  I also caught my other cat peeing/marking a chair. (!!)

A couple of arm scratches later, kitty was in the box and made the return trip.  When I called the Vet at 4:30 pm that day, my kitty still had not gone piddle.  So now she gets the overnight treatment.  The vet would call me when she went.  Next afternoon, still not heard anything, I called back and the cat STILL hadn't gone potty.  We are looking at a 36+ hour hold out.

Finally, after the vet told me I would not need to bring in a piece of my counter top (which I felt was a surefire solution) the drew what they needed with a needle.  Finally somebody out-stubborned the cat.  They informed me that she did indeed have a bacteria infection with no word as to why.  I am currently speculating that she is just backed up from the 36+ no pee protest (npp) but I still have to squirt medicine in my mouth.  Which, she does not care for.  Which I assume means she will pee on my countertop in protest.

Finally cost $167. 

A fee for the Jackson county animal shelter:  $20.

I better get some real good attention from the cat to justify the cost and cat pee smell.
